His solution for her safety turned out to be the City of Venna, where the Administrator and his woman were known to him and ti'gra both. Much to her surprise, Laird moved his wagons to outside the city walls and took up residence as a citizen of Venna.
His slave, however, was kept as an outcast. She was intructed to continue to behave as his wagongirl, to dress, act,and speak like it, and not to adopt the ways of the city silk slaves.
Ti'gra spent a great deal of time at the animal pens, homesick for the openness of the plains, and seeking to escape the silent enmity of the city slaves. She adhered to her Master's desires, but found herself isolated as a result. Despite her troubles with the slaves, ti'gra got on well with most of the Masters and some of the Mistresses.
But, as expected, there came a day when she was no longer welcome in the city due to her differences, and her Master gave her the choice of continuing to deal with it or moving on...and the broken beast found herself wandering to the fairgrounds, quiet in the off season.
