The boat that she'd booked passage on took a very unwelcome and unexpected (to her, at least) detour, putting in at Port Kar. She was met by the owner of the boat and offered lodging while the crew waited out the storm. She had few options: setting out in Kar alone to find lodging, remaining on a boat full of drunken men and the only woman, or trusting this man. It was with an intense uneasiness that she followed him, was led to his home, and tricked into drunkenness that exposed her slave nature.
